Monday 17th July 2017
Cwmbran-based telecommunications provider and expert, RPS Technology Solutions, are pleased to announce the appointment of a brand new Customer Support Technician, James Batchelor.
James, 32 from Neath, previously worked in a number of customer service positions across South Wales and, after over a decade in the industry, has made the decision to change career path and turn his passion into a profession.
"I've always had a love for computers and technology; from programming VCRs as a small child, right through to working with computers in school and mainframe systems in previous jobs" said James. "After years in the retail industry I was keen to incorporate my customer service skills with my passion for technology so I finally began looking into entry level IT jobs - it was there I found RPS."
RPS specialises in creating bespoke, innovative telecommunications solutions for a diverse range of SMEs across the UK, including Go Air Trampoline Parks, Bar 44 and Newland Rennie Estate Agents. Their fully engineered, hosted Voice Over IP telephony network, designed utilising broadband integrated directly to their hosting platforms, ensures a first class quality service.
"RPS offered an opening to learn about completely different technology to that I'd ever worked with before. The VOIP side of the business instantly appealed to me; it's akin to the development of the internet in the nineties, currently an alternative channel but a destined staple means of future communication."
James is the main point of contact if any customers need help or support. From a name change request on a phone to a customer with a computer that won't switch on, James' role is to be a friendly representative who can bring a swift solution.
James continued: "The best thing about this job is undoubtedly finally spending my working day doing something I love. I like to think of it as being contracted to enjoy my hobby, getting paid for it is something that takes a while to sink in.
"Moving into a field where I'm resolving issues which could seriously impact someone's working day is incredibly rewarding and I'm already experiencing the support and encouragement that can only be dreamt of when making a career change."
Ron Griffiths, Managing Director of RPS Technology Solutions, said: "We're thrilled that James has joined the RPS team. His years of experience in the customer service industry, alongside his long-standing passion and interest in technology, will help us to further establish our reputation as a quality telecommunications provider.
"As soon as we began interviewing James we knew he was the right person for job. We're delighted we've been able to assist him in changing his career path and are looking forward to helping him build upon his existing knowledge and grow into a fantastic technician."
